3 Reasons Your Arms Aren’t As Big As They Could Be
Earlier this year, it dawned on me that I’d been at this personal training/ coaching thing for a decade.
In that time I’ve seen a lot of trends (as well as my hairline) come and go. I’ve been witness to guys training using all sorts of gadgets – ranging from inflatable balls, half inflatable balls and even wobbly boards, where they balanced on one leg with both eyes closed
Despite all of the nutty things I’ve been privy to courtesy of the gym, one thing which has remained constant…
Every single one of them wanted to have bigger, more muscular arms.
If big arms are something you have also been coveting (and why wouldn’t you) continue reading this post. Over the course of the next few minutes I am going to share with you the three major reasons your arms aren’t growing and what you can do immediately to remedy it.
When it comes to pitiful pipes, most guys tend to make the same three mistakes. The good news is these mistakes can be remedied but before we get into the solution lets delve into what the mistakes are
Mistake #1: Poor Exercise Selection
The first mistake most dudes make when trying to build bigger arms is they choose crappy exercises. Movements like triceps kickbacks and swinging biceps curls are damn near worthless if your goal is growing gargantuan arms
A better option to maximize growth is to focus on exercises which allow you to move a decent amount of weight without breaking down form and potentially injuring yourself.
Mistake #2: Played-out Programming
The second mistake most guys make when trying to get tickets to the gun-show is staying on one program for far too long.
Sure that arm workout from the Bush era gave you results but staying on it for an extended period of time has rendered it useless. Your body requires change for it to grow so change things up.
A good rule of thumb to maximize the growth of your arms is to switch up your program every 4-6 weeks. This time frame will give your body enough time to adapt to the given stimulus without becoming used to it.
Mistake #3: Overtraining Your Arms
In recent months there have been claims that over training your arms or any other part of your body is a myth which can never be achieved – that is just plain DUMB
Your arms are like any other living tissue on this planet, when bombarded with constant stimulus, they respond negatively and eventually shrivel-off and die (ok, ok, I kid)
But there is an upper threshold to how much volume, frequency and load the arms can take before they stop responding, get injured or atrophy.
The trick to maximum growth is figuring out how much your arms can take and stay just below that range. if you can stay within this zone, you can bet your limited edition Jordan’s you will experience new growth without having to worry about exposing yourself to overtraining.
As I mentioned earlier getting big-ass arms doesn’t have to be a arduous task… if you take the right steps. To build a pair of arms you can be proud of follow the rules outlined for you above
