It all started with a dollar and a dream… naw just kidding.
It all actually started with a trip to Vegas, an overweight trainer and the stark embarrassment of sitting poolside unable to take my shirt off.
Before I get into the details of my story let me start of by saying this… I’ve been in some pretty embarrassing situations, some funny, others downright humiliating but all of them paled in comparison to this. My girlfriend and I had gone down to Vegas to celebrate a friends wedding. It was a typical Vegas vacation with tons of booze, partying and laying about in the sun. As much as I loved participating in the boozing and the partying, I dreaded the pool part.
See over the past few years I had gained some pounds (40 to be exact) and all I could think about was the fact that I… the supposedly fit guy was way too ashamed to take his shirt off in public. As a trainer you are supposed to stay in relatively good shape, I had managed to let things slide a little…. okay, okay a lot.
Who woulda thought a back injury, a few days (okay months) of skipping the gym and eating whatever I damn near pleased would have ever caught up to me?
If I had seen it coming, I wouldn’t have let it happen… but that’s besides the point. I had let myself go and it was too late to do anything about it
The shame and embarrassment had already taken root and there was nothing left to do but reside myself to get back in shape once I got back home. The journey back into shape was not an easy though. I was so desperate to get a leaner, athletic body that I tried everything – only to fail over and over again
At first I listened to popular opinion. All of the so-called experts were recommending circuit training to lose fat
In my experience that just didn’t work
At least not for guys like me – In fact it made me weaker and definitely smaller
(What was the point of leaning up if I was gonna lose the muscle I had worked years to pack on?)
I figured circuit training was a dead-end so I decided to switch things up
I went back to lifting HEAVY- but this time I added high volume metabolic conditioning (aka Crossfit)
That didn’t go over so well either.
5 minutes into the first Crossfit style workout I got injured. The high-rep, set of box jumps reagravated an old hamstring strain.
Fuck, sidelined again
I was reaching my wits end and was ready to throw in the towel when out of the blue… my buddy Guy called me.
He was frantic, damn near shouting through the phone. He told me…
(Back story) Henry was an older Jamaican dude we used to work with. Back in the day he was a professional bodybuilder who had won the Mr Canada title. Last thing I’d heard he had stopped competing
When we worked together Henry was freakishly strong but aside from a few stage pictures, I had never seen him very lean.
In fact when I first met him I thought he was a powerlifter.
So you can imagine MY shock when I logged onto Facebook and saw Henry ripped to sh*t.
The poorly shot photo on his timeline showed a thick, muscular Henry flexing his stomach. My jaw literally dropped at his cannonball shoulders, massive pecs and deeply etched six pack.
Things got even more impressive as I scrolled down and saw the same ripped Henry picking up a 6-plate deadlift as if it were nothing
I hadn’t spoken to Henry in a few years so it took me some time to track down his number. When I finally did… I convinced him to show me exactly what he had done to get such great results. The things Henry showed me blew my mind and became the basis for a bad-ass fat burning muscle building approach I used myself and with clients to get them in the best shape of their lives.
The methodology behind this approach is a little but radical but it friggin works. I’ll tell you more about it later but before that I want to get into what you might be doing right now that’s fucking up your chance to ever lose fat and gain muscle.
I don’t wanna overwhelm you with information so I will send you an email tomorrow going over some of these fat burning muscle gaining screw-ups. Once I show you what these are you will immediately see why you haven’t gotten where you’d like to go with your physique and how easy it is to fix this. In the meantime make sure to listen to this short audio interrogation I did where I get into a bit of the science behind training for fat loss and muscle building. Click Here to go to the interview
