Lessons From The Oak
Did you watch it?
Pretty freakin amazing right?
If you are a member of my newsletter, it's fair to say you've heard of Arnold Schwarzenegger before
His track record is massive, 7 time Mr Olympia
Conan The Barbarian
Arnold's track record is as big as his huge frame was back when he competed, as iconic a figure as he is…
Few people realize the thought he put into orchestrating his life
Think about it for a minute…
Here is this guy who flys to America with scraps in his pocket, wins 7 Mr Olympia titles, becomes a top-grossing movie star then proceeds to marry American royalty and become Governor
I used to believe guys like Arnold were hand picked by the Gods, the lucky few born with all the earthly gifts bestowed upon them
Truth is, that's bullshit
Arnold did two things which propelled him further than any other bodybuilder and most actors of that time
First thing he did was map out an exact game plan for how his life would play out. Sources close to him can cite him predicting becoming a Hollywood star and getting into politics… even though it seemed an impossible task for an immigrant at that time
The second thing Arnold did in terms of crafting his life was work backwards and figure out exactly what needed to be done to achieve the next goal. While competing against American bodybuilders he discovered the judges favoured a leaner ripped-up physique. Rather than throwing his hands up in protest, Arnold went to work figuring out how to give them what they wanted.
He moved in with one of the man known for having one of most well-rounded aesthetic physiques of that time (Frank Zane), emulated his diet and showed up the following year, leaner than he had ever been to win his first title.
If there's a lesson we can derive from looking at Arnolds life, it's that true happiness is contingent on charting your own course
This is what being a Big Man Strong is all about
Till next time
Go Big Or Go Home
